We're currently in the long spell between events that are close enough to attend. So to keep the withdrawals at bay, my household held a Luau! We even invited members of our ally house, the Horsemen. I think a great time was had by all, though the evening was kind of a blur for me (ok, I'm a light-weight and had 2 1/2 drinks of something fruity and mango-rummy).

Basic party premise:
1) Everyone attending must show up with a bottle of their favorite spirits and get a bag of shiny rocks and pearls in payment.
2) Attendees pay for drinks at the bar with a single shiny rock or pearl per drink.
3) They may earn more shiny rocks and pearls by performing dares, playing games, and making wagers on competitions.
4) They can spend excess shiny rocks and stones on fabulous prizes (souvenirs) to take home.

I think they all enjoyed it! We used the same game last year for our pirate party only used the plastic doubloons as the coin of choice. I now look forward to the next event/party/war, but for now, my social dress-up habit is sated.
