King's Hunt IX

Spring time is nigh upon us and the beasts of the forest are waking from their winter slumber and getting restless. The time for the King’s Hunt will soon be upon us. We must cull the herds before they trample the crops and menace our people. Wherefore do we plea to all the brave and skilled hunters of our kingdom for help. Come join us on Saturday morning tracking down wild “animals”. The hunting party is made up of a “hunter” carrying a spear and 2 “dogs” which carry a single-handed weapon. The “animals” may fight with any weapons. The prize goes to the hunting team that slays the most animals. In the afternoon, there will be both heavy and rapier lists. Numerous archery shoots will also be held on Saturday. For non-fighters we have A&S activities and classes planned. A scavenger hunt has been arranged to divert the children.

A Mini Taste of Caid

Master Donal O'Brien, OL, is hosting a mini Taste of Caid at King's Hunt.

The Taste of Caid is not a competition, rather a chance for brewers of all kinds to gather and share their creations. So, if you are a beer-brewer, wine or mead-maker, cordialier, vinegron, soda-creator, syrup or sekanjabin producer, drink-mixer or drink-drinker, bring a sample of what you make, an empty cup, and a willingness to try something new. The Taste of Caid is open to everyone. Both non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks will be available.

NOTICE: Anyone sampling alcoholic beverages must be 21 years of age or older!

Fees:
Site fees for the weekend $15 for adults, $10 for children over 5, no fee for children younger than 5. Site fee for one day is $7. A non-member fee of $3 will be added for those who do not present proof of membership at the gate. Please make checks payable to SCA Inc./Shire of Carreg Wen.

A feast will be offered on Saturday evening to be cooked by Ursula and Johannes von Husen. The cost for the feast will be $7 per person and $5 for children over 5. Please check our website for menu information and ingredient list.
