2008-02-08 [SirBrand]: Greetings from Sir Brand of Aquaterra, An Tir (and at least one time visitor to Western Seas). I am sending out updated notices about our event - Art of War - in the hopes Fighters (HardSuit, Armored Archer and Rapier) and Event Stewards will attend. This is a unique event in An Tir's History and we hope that many can attend and bring back the teachings we are providing. Think of it as a Staff Retreat... with rattan;-)
A Registration Deadline is fast approaching (Feb. 15). I announce this again to encourage those who were thinking about attending to let us know they wish to come. The SCA Approved on-line Credit Card system (ACCEPS) is now a payment option.
http://acceps.
We happily accept mailed-in registrations, or just an email to let us know to 'pencil in' someone until the paperwork can arrive.
We also now have more attendance options (explained more in detail below):
2-day, 4-day, 50% Deposit (you can pay for a two day and upgrade later as well)...
Some things still need to be mailed in directly, like T-Shirt and Spear payments, but all full priced attendance reservations can be done securely and easily at the SCA Approved ACCEPS site and it locks in your rate of fee.
--------------
Aquaterra is sponsoring "Art of War" to assist the fearsome fighters of An Tir and beyond in becoming a well trained Army. It is an intensive 4-day event (Thursday - Sunday, April 10-13, 2008) in Snohomish Washington (about an 1.5 hours north of Seattle).
It's Website is www.sca-artofw
I write you today to ask you to encourage your Sergeants, Yeomans, Gallants and Event Steward (Autocrat) folks to attend. Since the King has asked His Lands for Levees - troops for the many wars upcoming (especially An Tir West) - other members of your populace will also benefit from attendance.
This is going to be a transformative event. Even if only a few of your populace attends, they will return as teachers, leaders and organizers able to share with the rest of your people the many things our experienced staff has to offer.
In addition to the many talented An Tirian Commanders we have attending, we are inviting Guest Commanders from around the SCA. There will be instruction for HardSuit, Armored Archer and War Rapier. As well, the Event Stewards of this year's Estrella War will be there to instruct on running large events. In order for people to be able to concentrate as much as possible on what the event has to offer, all food is provided as well as lodging. There is no need of tents or encampments. The Boy Scout camp we are using has bunk and enclosed space enough for all.
The price (including all Food and a place to Sleep) is $100.00 US (slightly less for Event Steward Track students). We need reservations asap, as the price goes up significantly as of February 15th. We do have some alternative registration options to accommodate those who cannot attend all four days or need a little more time to pay.
The event copy is below. Please feel free to contact myself for particulars. This is not your normal SCA event, so please feel free to ask questions. If you would, please give the following copy to your Chronichlers for distribution in your newsletters and Websites, and to send out on your local email lists.
