THE WARRIOR'S CODE

I am a warrior.
I do battle with sword and shield.
Chivalrous combat always,
but . . . what is Chivalry?

Chivalry, the warrior's code,
is made up of many virtues.
Courage in battle,
and also in peace.

Purity, oft called cleanliness,
but not purity of body,
but purity of the mind,
the spirit and the soul.

Humility, the art of being humble.
Do you accept a loss with grace?
Do you congratulate your opponent?
Can you call them your better?

Honesty, when it is often
an easier road to lie.
Telling truths can hurt.
Do you have THAT courage?

Diligence, to any endeaver.
Stand a shield wall till battle's end.
Ensure the throne's safety,
while the hiers prepare.

Charity, the art of giving,
but I ask you, giving what?
Material things are just that,
but your time is precious.

Fidelity, faithfulness, loyalty,
Where do yours lie?
Mine lie with Chivalry and love,
I shall never betray them.

I am a warrior,
even in the face of defeat,
when times are the hardest,
that's when I shine.
