I have been to several SCA events, my brother in law has been a SCA member for a long time, his is in the kingdom of Caid-Gyldenholt barony/shire. and belongs to the Abby Household. His Name is Tobin. Since 2000, i have met several abby members and SCA members, I have been to Potrero War Twice, and Great Western twice, and severl Tourneys.
My Husband, has also fought with the abby at both Potrero Wars, he has attended 3. He goes by Ravenwolf and I Rhiannon.
We have not been to a event recently, we have had alot of things going on, but both our boys want to get invovled as well. I am a very huge history buff, and i am very inetrested in the Medieval Period, since I got involved in SCA, just as a guest, I have sold over 200 SCA costumes, to several SCA members all over the united states, and europe, as well as Rennfaire costumes, though recently in the last 4 years I have stuck to my dollmaking,inc which i make period correct repaint dolls, such as Anne Boleyn and other historical figures. I also make the Fairies and mermaids, as well as gothic dolls, and refurbish china dolls. I have done over 100 special orders for Wiccan Garb. I lived in England for four years from 1986 to 1990, I have toured many castles, and historical sites, Hampton Court, the former home of cardinal Wosley, and given to Anne Boleyn from Henry VIII. I saw stonehenge, Edinburgh castle in Scotland, and such more. I am very inetrested in the History Chanel, and as you might guess by my name Rhiannon which is of the Celtic(Welsh)Nature, i am very much into the Celtic History and Mythology. Which is mainly my persona, however I enjoy dressing in other cutural style, Middle Eastern/Persian, Romanian, Viking, and Traditional Medieval, however the Tudor Period in one of my favorites. I ws told by certain members that the SCA only recognizes periods from 65 AD to the end of the 1400's, some early 1500's nothing beyond that. I study costume very detailed, and accuratly. as when i make my dolls I prefer them to be period accurate. My husband and I are not official members of the SCA yet, we are planning to be, but one of my doll buyers, gave me this link and i found this forum very interesting.
