Meridian Foreign Legion

This fighting unit, the Meridian Foreign Legion, is open to any one who wishes to help advance the arts of field combat in the SCA. We're looking for heavy combat fighters, rapier fighters, combat archers to join our ranks. Don't fight? Join the Legion Auxiliary. Rank and reward await those who join the Legion, fighters will come together to practice proven tactics and muster at selected War events to support the defense of our Kingdom.

Newest news - We hosted a Regional War Practice in Auburn on Dec 13. Forty plus fighters showed up, including seven knights, as well as 30 or so support people. Practice was good, lots of good comments; we plan to do this again next year.

Latest News - The Legion fielded 9 fighters at a regional war practice in Prattville AL. Was good to work other fighting units in the Kingdom, all coming together as part of something bigger. The Legion was also proud to beak out the field kitchen to serve up a post-practice dinner for everyone on site.

Second to Latest News - The Legion fielded a 4 man melee team at July Feast, winning 4 of 7 rounds.

Third to Latest News - Legion badge passed by Society Laurel in December 2007: "Sable, in fess a sword sustained at the hilt by two wings with hands issuant, a bordure embattled argent."

2007-02-16 [Valgardr]: sweeet! I have a few members interested in the Legion.. is it a very strict group? For instance, do you have to go where they tell you or is it still the 'if you can make it' clause?

2007-02-21 [kynwric]: Pretty much it is what you can make it to, we've got no way of forcing anyone to do anything they don't want... well other than public ridicule and teasing.

Of course all the wording in the documents sounds more harsh because we're trying to create a martial feel to the Legion.

2007-03-20 [jocosa]: The Legion rocked at GW - and looked great thanks to the guys and gals at Big Rhino who worked on the Legion tabards. We had 11 guys in tabards, 8 auxillary members, and signed up 6 more.
