What it takes to be a SQUIRE

These are my personal views on what I think it means to be a squire. A squire, unlike most people's perceptions, is not just a partying jokester. A squire is a student to a knight, and his fellow squire brothers. Squires are learning to be chivalrous people, who enjoy serving for the love of service, helping people and asking for nothing more than a thank you and a smile, fighting with honor and chivalry on the field, and always standing up for those people that can't stand up for themselves. 

There are a great many people that think that a gentle should be all of these things just to be a squire, and that a squire should be a knightly person. I disagree. A squire will eventually become a knightly person, but if that person is already a knightly person, than he is a knight that hasn't been recognized. There are several people that fit that description, and they are just waiting on their King to recognize them as knights. 

No, a squire is not necessarily a knightly person all of the time, but they are striving to be, and they are taking the teachings of their knight, other knights in the circle, and squires who have knowledge that the squire may need. 

More than that, however, a squire is a teacher. He takes people with less skill than he has and teaches them whatever he can. He takes people that are having trouble with their niche in the Society and teaches them to become better people that serve for the love of serving, fight with honor and chivalry, and stand up for people that can't stand up for themselves. 

It is important to remember that a squire is just striving to become a knight. Every bit of help that a squire can get with this endeaver is a welcome thing indeed. It is also important to remember that these are just my personal views. If you have any comments, send them to me at [Sanzio].
