"I personally will miss his wondrous (if a little lengthy) stories, and the Kingdom of Meridies has lost an archer who got more than his share of what he liked to call 'prime rib'. Lord Brithwold has taken the path through the woods and gone home....Farewell dear friend, With tears and smiles....." Margaret of Seabrae

"We have lost a wonderful person with the passing of Lord Brighwold Boarslayer...

Mundanely he was a Navy Veteran with many Purple Hearts for wounds recieved in combat and the Bronze Star for Valor while serving with small boat units in Southeast Asia.

In the SCA he was a fierce Combat Archer who would not even allow the loss of a leg (real world loss...) to stop him from supporting his Kingdom on the field and off. He was a friend and guide to the newcomer and a companion to all who knew him.

A true comrade, household member and friend...his word was his bond and could always be counted on to fulfill his obligations. I salute him both mundanely and within our society for Brithwold will be deeply missed..."  THBaron Ulrich of Somerset called Vikingsjager

"Lord Brithwold will be missed, he told the most wonderful stories and a most loyal and true friend. Goodbye Brithwold I will miss you" THBaroness Arabella Silvana

"The Shire of Arenal will forever hold his memory close, and all those who have gone before him, giving stories and memories to serve as a reminder to those who remain that every moment is precious, every breath worth taking, every smile worth sharing, and every cup remain full among friends and comrades. Lorth Brithwold Boarslayer shall always be fondly remembered." Bastion St. Michael

"A Salute to a fallen comrade,

Over the years Brithwold has taugh the people of Arenal many things. Without his excellent teachings, many of us would have been easier prey to the other archers of the known world. I was always glad to be on his side in combat rather than facing the wrath of his bow. His tenacity in life displayed both on and off the field of combat, was second to none. I can say hs taught me both temperance and discretion. Patience is the way of the archer, this I learned from him as well. Through his storytelling he imparted his wisdom. I can say I am a better man for having known him.

Brother Brithwold, may your bow never break. May your bowstring be forever taut. May your arrows fly true. Until we meet again in the halls of Vallhalla. Hunt On Brother."  Godric fitz William le Buchier

"I first met Brithwold at PJC in the mid 80's in the commons where we and about 10 other crazy kids formed the STA, Society for the Terminally Adolescent. We had never heard of the SCA but were instead mocking the pompous SGA, Student Government Association. We would sit around between classes and sing Tom Leher classics like 'Poisoning Pigeons in the Park" and "The Masochism Tango"., as well as Monty Python's "Sit on my Face" and "The Lumberjack song". Back then we just knew him as Gritz.
It wasn't till later when we met again I believe at a demo where the civil war re-enactors and the SCA were both performing. Where we caught up on what had been happening since college. He shortly joined the SCA, where he developed his love of the bow. I remember giving him a crossbow one day as he was complaining about the fatigue the bow was causing his arm.
He will be greatly missed by all who ever met him, always with a smile and never a harsh word for anyone.

May your arrows always find their target my friend." Joselito
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Lord Brithwold gave me the best advice I have ever recieved in the SCA. The advice was simple, and it's preamble was: "Will you listen to the advice of an old man?" Old he may have been of years, but any that looked into his eyes could still see that vibrant spirit of a man a fraction of the years he had. The advice that he gave was simple: "Be more than a stick jock. Anyonbe can be a hot stick on the field, you should be more." That little tidbit of advice is in large part responsible for my being the person that I am today, on and off of the field

Lord Brithwold, all that I can really say is: "Thank You". [Sanzio]
This is but a few words from our family in Arenal about Brithwold. This is by no means the last of them, only the ones I had time to add so far...
