Subject: .com => .org (Texts: 1 )

I've stopped paying for thunderskeep.com so that will stop working in a month.

So from now on only thunderskeep.org will work.

There was a big crash here today so Thunder's Keep was inaccessible for some hours. Nothing is lost as far as I know though.

As you might know, if you have a Google account you can vote on search results by pressing the move up button.

So go and vote for Thunder's Keep:

Does anyone know something about www.Farspeaker.com (Farspeaker)?

I emailed them, asking for a link to Thunder's Keep.

Subject: Thunder's Keep birthday! (Texts: 1 )

I'm not exactly sure when Thunder's Keep "started". I of course have the dates on when the first members registered, but we were mostly just testing in the beginning.

On the entrance-page it says "November" though, so I think that 1st of November is a good day to say that Thunder's Keep is 2 years old.

Do you think we can get some interest from people to submit banquet photos to make a birthday wiki-page? Any other ideas?

Dear Gentles near and far,
The lands of the Northern Panhandle in West Virginia have been without an official SCA branch for nearly a decade.
If you are located in this area, or know someone in this area drop me a note. We have about 20 people signing on, but the more the merrier.

Subject: 15 new members in a week (Texts: 1 )

15 member in a week is a pretty good rate and means that we'll double in a year. Of course it's still way too slow growth, and this place will be much more fun if almost everyone can be found here.

As always: If you have suggestions about how we should make this a better place or if you want some help to do something, just say so! <img:stuff/smile.jpg>

I added "group" to the listing of members (in searches, for example) upon request from [Katrine la Escolpiera].

Subject: 20 new members last week! (Texts: 1 )

This is a new record. At least after the initial week.

Very nice! I hope all these people can find something interesting here too. There isn't so much activity here, so if you have any ideas for something you want to do, just tell me and [Valgardr] and we'll help you do it!

So... What is possible to do here? Well, almost anything. You have have sign-up lists on a wiki-page, information about your events, contests where you challenge another household on making clothes and so on.

Think of Thunder's Keep as a bar. You bring up some stuff for you and your friends, and then some new people accidentally step by and you'll make new friends.

Subject: Photo album problems... (Texts: 1 )

I just found out that there was a 10 MByte limit for how much photos you can upload to photo albums (As in the ones you get by pressing "New photos" to the right. There was no limit on the photos you upload when you press "upload a folder of images" in your house).

I practically removed the limit now, so you shouldn't get into any problems by uploading photos!

Subject: I was thinking of hosting a little contest... (Texts: 1 )

To get a little side-kick happening here, I thought I could make a contest that is very easy to enter and pretty fun:

Fun photo comments

(I assume that [Valgardr]'s photos are free to use for Thunder's Keep stuff.)

Any comments about this? Should I advertise it on the Courtyard?

Subject: Broken links! (Texts: 3 )

I clicked on the links on the Courtyard to see what they were about and that really pissed me off. They all lead to non-existing wiki-pages!

Don't make link to non-existing wiki-pages without a huge warning on them, and never ever write links to empty wiki-pages from the Courtyard!

A wiki-page saying "No information yet", is better, but not acceptable either. If there is no information, then there shouldn't be any link!

I'll try to see if I and Google can fix some of the links, but I'm not the one you know about the events.

Subject: Uploading Movies (Texts: 2 )

Just checking before I blow a big hole in your website I have a couple of movies I took at Gatlop and wanted to make sure that a) the format (.avi) was okay, and b) the sizes (26.6mb and 38.8mb) wern't too large.

They are of the attack and defence of the sea wall. Nothing spectacular but it does show our brave boys in action.

No hurry in answering as I won't be online again till around 09:00am Tuesday - flying back to Insulae Draconis

Subject: Uploading many images (Texts: 1 )

Not to the crew, but from the crew ;)

If you go to your house and then press "Upload a folder of images", you'll now also have the capability to select a lot of photos without making a zip-file out of them first.

So keep on making photo-pages! Everyone loves photos!

Subject: What people search for on Google (Texts: 6 )

If you want to build wiki-pages to attract people from Google, these are good keywords to write about:

Search-term searches this month
sca armour 103
sca archery 29
sca clothing 29
sca heraldry 28
sca weapons 26
sca swords 19
sca barony 17
sca rapier 14
sca costume 11

So it's a good idea to make these wiki-pages if you have something good to put on them! It's good free advertising ;) You can at least put a lot of links on the pages and an image on each of them.

(By the way: All these search-terms show an ad for Thunder's Keep. Don't click on it, because it costs me money!)

Subject: Frontpage! (Texts: 2 )

I need some text to put on the frontpage. I'm lacking knowledge of all the right words to use to write something that sounds like the wanted style of this place.

An extra bonus to use words that the advertisers of cool stuff like ;) And of course this is useful for search-engines too. I find it unlikely to succeed, but if you can find two words which people search for that very well describes something about Thunder's Keep, then we might get users that way.

"medieval forum" might work, but the competition is hard. And a little wrong...
